The best times to visit this trail are April through October. Waumbek and Mt. Carriage Road is mostly ice/packed snow until a little before Snapper Trail it clears up. The trailhead is on the eastern side of the road just past a sign for the Glencliff trail (Appalachian Trail). To get to the trailhead, take the 25N, turn right onto High Street and continue along this road until it comes to an end. The recent snows been compacted, so snow shoes arent needed, I only broke through a handful of times. Gate is close- so add .8 miles to get to the trail head. I was happy to have her, so I obliged even though I like to move much faster and without stopping. The path climbs steadily up the northeastern flank of the mountain for 5.8 miles to the top of Moosilauke. 3h 15m in and out In the winter, the Ravine Lodge Gate is closed 1.5 miles from the Lodge which will be added to your total distance if you ski it, but realistically this only adds 1.5 miles on the way up as you will be able to ski down the road pretty easily on the way out to your car behind the gate. 5-7 hours (round trip) Couple small brook crossings with all the rain weve had but nothing too bad. The south end is located at the Flume Gorge Parking lot and the north end is at a parking lot located about a half mile off Route 93, Exit 35 which takes you onto route 3 (4412'11.3"N 7140'51.7"W). Great mountain so far one of my favorite 48 4000 footers!! There were a lot of frozen patches especially on the west side of the hill prepare with proper equipment. Parking is on one side of the Ravine Rd., although the road is gated in the winter. Definitely bring layers for the topwe ate our sandwiches in a rush then hurried back to the tree line. Once you hit the junction with the Carriage Path and South Peak the trail to Moosilauke summit is quick, easy and good footing. Couldn't quickly find the trail to the other part of the loop, and nobody wanted to stay up there longer than a few minutes. If you're new to exploring the White Mountain range this will definitely be a great introduction to what it can offer.
